Sandals Royal Bahamian
Red Lane Spa

It’s been an adventurous few weeks of traveling for Nitin & I, from a local country escape to the Bahamas to Banff. Now that I’m finally settled back at home (ok, half settled …I still have one more bag left to unpack) I can’t wait to share all the details with you guys. I’ve been getting so many messages about my trip to the Bahamas and my full blog post on the resort will be up soon. In the meantime, I’m super excited to share my one-of-a-kind Sandals Royal Bahamian spa experience, because let’s be real, what’s a Khosla trip without the spa!

It’s no surprise how much I love to spa, to the point that it’s considered a verb in my world. When we saw that Sandals Royal Bahamian had a spa on site, Nitin and I were both pretty stoked to check it out. The brands signature, award-winning Red Lane Spa is the epitome of island relaxation. While they have a beautiful full spa facility on the main island, guests are also given the option to take their massages to Sandals offshore island for some outdoor r&r by the water. Can you guess which location we opted for?

We took the morning boat over to the island (less than 5 minutes away) where perched ourselves on a private hut for the day, enjoying the peace and quite while we patiently waited for our spa treatments. 30 minutes prior to our treatment we pried ourselves away from our hut and walked over to the spa a few steps away. Located on one corner of the island, Sandals Royal Bahamian has created the perfect atmosphere for unwinding in peace. With an open-concept lobby serving as centre stage, we signed our health forms and were given the option of which hut we preferred. All the huts have amazing views of the water, so we weren’t fussed where we had our massages. The island is also fairly quiet in general, so don’t expect interruptions or loud noises during your treatment.

The one thing I love most about spa-ing outside North America is experiencing different rituals. From Bali to Mexico to Dubai to the Bahamas, each spa and country has their own unique pre-treatment ritual which I can’t help but fall in love with every time. Prior to the start of our treatment, Nitin and I were each given a candle. Nitin’s masseuse lit his candle, and I lit mine from Nitin’s. We then said a promise to each other, sealed it with a kiss and put our candles down so we could enjoy the beautiful scent during our massage. The therapists exited the hut so Nitin and I could undress and settle into our beds.

The hut itself is covered in mesh so no inserts get in during the treatment, and the massage tables and face pillows are comfortable and inviting. Now, for the actual massage! The pressure was perfect, the therapists were both knowledgeable and professional, and the overall vibe had me pinching myself at one point. Seriously, this is too good to be true! You know when you go to your local spa and they pop on a beach soundtrack highlight the sounds of crashing waves, whispering winds and singing birds? Now imagine that sound, only it’s in real life. I’ve had the pleasure of visiting some amazing spas around the world, and there is something so special how Sandals marries together simplicity and luxury with their spa and services.

When the treatment was complete Nitin and I stayed snuggled in our hut until we finally forced ourselves out of our state of bliss and back to reality …which to be honest, wasn’t too hard since we still had two more nights in the Bahamas. Hard life, I know. We were given water and Gatorade to hydrate ourselves, and we walked back like marshmallows to our hut where we sank in and stayed for a couple hours more. We did have oil on us from the massage, and while there aren’t any full service showers on the island we removed most of the oil with towels and stayed out the sun until our boat ride back to the main island so we didn’t burn.

Guests of Sandals are welcome to enjoy the steam room and sauna at the spa on the main island (no treatment required), so Nitin and I headed over to check it out when we got back. The main spa consists of a co-ed lobby, and separate men’s and ladies area where you will find steam rooms and sauna (these are no co-ed). The facility is extremely clean, well maintained and fully stocked with water, towels and lockers. The treatment rooms are lovely, and nothing short of what you would expect from an award-winning spa.

If you’re heading to a Sandals location, I highly recommend taking advantage of the spa, especially if you’re able to enjoy a treatment on the beach. Our spa experience was the perfect addition to an already amazing trip, and I can’t wait to try out the spa at more Sandals resorts. My full blog post on Sandals Royal Bahamian will be posted early next week, so stay tuned!

A huge thank you to Tracy and the Sandals team for organizing such an unforgettable experience!

xx, Kiki

Thanks Giselle! This was my first trip to Sandals and the Bahamas, but based on my research November is a great time to go! Hurricane season is over and the weather looks great! In terms of the resort itself, it’s perfect for anytime of year. I hope you enjoy. xx

Thanks so much Brittany! I’m not 100% sure which room it was but it was on the fifth floor and was either the Windsor Oceanview Club Level Suite or the Windsor Honeymoon Oceanview Club Level Suite. Hope this helps. xo, Kiki
