Spring Trend Report: Polka Dots

I don’t know if it’s the 14°C weather we’re experiencing today, the fact that the sun is now shining past 5:00pm, or the sight of florals and dresses bursting through window displays everywhere I look, but spring is definitely in the air! I’ve been so inspired by this years spring/ summer runway collections, I decided to cave into some of my favourite trends and snag some affordable pieces from one of my favourite online stores, Shein. I introduced Shein to the blog last year in this post and this post, and I’ve been an avid customer since. I love how I can pick-up fast-fashion pieces at great prices, and I don’t feel so bad recycling them after they’ve served their seasonal purpose.

This spring, florals and pastels are being rivaled by the notorious polka dot trend which has popped up in monochromatic fashion on the runways of Balenciaga, Carolina Herrera and Rodarte to name a few. My favourite designer polka dot runway pieces are this Flocked Tulle Ruffle Dress by Rodarte (seriously, wow!) and this Polkadot Ruffle Dress by Valentino. This trend is stealing the spotlight and landing itself front and center in stores and online. I love the feminine element of the ruffle sleeve, and the versatility of the belt (try rocking it has a choker, or tying into a bow in your hair).
