What to Wear When
Traveling with an Infant

Traveling with an infant is definitely a game changer. There are so many more things to take into consideration, including clothing. Tucked away are my fuzzy sweaters (don’t want the fluff getting in Evan’s mouth when I’m holding him), textured pieces with sequence or rough embroidery (can’t have them scratching Evan’s face) and my designer clothes (don’t exactly need spit-up on my new Valentino blouse). It’s not to say I’ll never wear these pieces but when I know I’m going to be holding Evan a lot I try and avoid anything that’s going to irritate his skin or get ruined.

Instead of spending thousands of dollars on a new wardrobe, I’ve picked up some cozy fall/ winter items from Shein that are travel & baby friendly, all of which I put to great use on my recent trip to Banff. You can use discount code 4kiki10 for 10% off your Shein purchase of $80+ CND.

Cable Knit Cardigan – I wore this sweater on the plane ride to Calgary and not only did it keep me warm & cozy but it was also comfortable on Evan’s skin when he slept on me. This is a great every day cardigan, pairing well with leggings, jeans and even a cute skirt. It’s casual, sophisticated and a versatile travel item, especially for cooler destinations. It’s also perfect for layering; when I was feeling warm on the plane I took it off and rocked a simple black shirt underneath.

Heart Patterned Cardigan – Another cozy cardi from Shein! This fun and playful piece is a must-have for those looking for a cute and trendy addition to their wardrobe. It looks great both open and closed, and it too is mama-approved for plane rides (I wore this piece on at the way back to Toronto). I was a bit worried about the fuzz from the hearts getting in Evan’s mouth but thankfully it doesn’t.

Satin Maxi Dress – Do you know how difficult it is shopping for a stylish, nursing-friendly dress to wear to a wedding? Nitin, Evan and I were in Banff for Nitin’s cousins wedding and it took me forever to find something comfortable for Evan, and easy for me to nurse in. I’ve mentioned before how much I love bardot style pieces for nursing and this dress did not disappoint. I was able to quickly nurse Evan without having to deal with the hassle of zippers. I love the flow of this piece, the beautiful satin shine, the colour …ok, I love pretty much everything about it. Whether you’re nursing or not, this is a great dress for those who need something special but don’t want to break the bank.

Gemstone Waist Chain – When it comes to weddings, my chunky necklaces are taking a backseat because I don’t want them scratching Evan’s face when he rests on my chest or shoulders. Sooo, I’m relying on other accessories to add some flare to my outfits. Cute belts are a great way to add a pop. I purchased this Vasansi Jaipur Gown and couldn’t resist rocking this waist chain belt with it. This belt also looks great with a simple black or white dress.

Faux Fur Mule Flats – These are my go-to shoes lately. They are ridiculously comfortable and easy to slip on when I’m in a rush, which is pretty much always. They’re great quality, true to size and all the craze at the moment.

For those traveling with an infant for the first time, comfort is everything for both you and baby. There’s likely going to be a lot of snuggling, feeding, spit-up and diaper changes so rocking comfy apparel is one less thing to worry about.

xo, Kiki
