Satisfy the Munchies:
Delicious & Healthy Natural/ Organic Snacks

Guilt-free nibbling has never tasted so good! My kitchen cupboards are bursting with natural and organic munchies, so I’m excited to share with you guys my favourite healthy bites over a series of posts, starting with this one! I’ve rounded up some of my favourite natural, nutritious and uber delicious snack options that are sure to curb your cravings and keep you satisfied all day long!

SmartSweets Fruity & Sour Gummy Bears

These tasty, low sugar gummy bears have my nieces and I crushing bags at a time. Say goodbye to sugars and artificial ingredients as SmartSweets makes room for natural, high quality ingredients. They’re also packed with 24 grams of plant-based, GMO-free soluble fibre which helps to slow digestion so you’re not feeling hungry as often. I will say they are chewier than Bulk Barn style gummy bears, but they taste delicious and I’d trade that off for a few extra chews any day!

Available online, at Whole Foods & Sobeys* (*coming in November)

Did you know SmartSweets are also…

  • Peanut and tree nut free
  • Dairy and soy free
  • Enriched with a soluble fibre that helps maintain healthy cholesterol levels, improve mineral absorption and stabilize blood-sugar
  • High in fibre
  • Natural fruit flavours
  • Made in Canada

MadeGood Chocolate Banana Granola Minis

Comprised of ripe bananas and rich, dark chocolate, these organic granola bites are one of my favourite road trip munchies. They’re also perfect for everyday snacking and contain the same amount of nutrients found in one serving of vegetables. Win-win? I think so! The small, ball shaped bites are crunchy yet chewy and packed with flavour.

Available at major local retailers.

Did you know MadeGood Minis are also…

  • Free of peanuts, tree nuts, wheat, dairy, egg, soy, sesame, fish and shellfish
  • Organic, gluten-free & Non-GMO
  • Available in 5 delicious flavours; Chocolate Banana (my fav), Apple Cinnamon, Chocolate Chip, Mixed Berry, Strawberry

The Good Bean Roasted Chickpeas

If your cravings teeter on the savoury side, swap that bag of Doritos with these delicious all natural roasted chickpea snacks. Made with the perfect amount of crunch and salt, a couple handfuls of these little guys and you’ll be tied over for a while. Did I mention this snack has as much fibre as two cups of broccoli and as much folate as three cups of spinach, all in one serving?! Scoore!

Available at Sobeys.

Did you know The Good Bean Chickpeas are also…

  • Non-GMO, fair trade, vegan, koshar and hexane free

  • As much protein as almonds, in one serving

Rico ’n Lalo All Natural Frozen Bars

This is my go-to dessert every night …seriously, the bottom half of my freezer is stocked with Rico n’ Lalo’s bars. While I’ve tested all the flavours and can say without hesitation each has its own scrumptious and unique taste, my hands-down favourite is lime. Comprised of four simple ingredients: purified water, lime juice, organic evaporated cane juice and guar gum, these frozen lime bars are packed with enough punch to make your taste buds break out into a happy dance.

Available at Planet Organic & Organic Garage.

Did you know Rico ‘n Lalo bars are…

  • Made with organic ingredients

So Delicious’ Cashew Milk Frozen Dessert

Dairy-free ice cream may sound odd (ice cream out of nuts?), but one bite and you’ll be ditching your Ben & Jerry’s for a taste of this oh-so delicious cashew milk frozen goodness. If there was ever a time to try something new, now is it. I’ve always loved cashews, so when Nitin brought home this frozen dessert more than a year ago I was super excited to try it out. Not only is this dessert rich and decadent, but it tastes better than most ice cream …and no, it doesn’t taste like cashews.

Available at most major retailers.

Did you know this frozen dessert is also…

  • Free of artificial flavours, sweeteners and colours
  • Vegan
  • Non-GMO Project Verified
  • Gluten Free

For those of you in the area, make sure you stop by the Sobeys Natural Source Expo at their Glen Abby location, taking place this Saturday from 11:00am – 5:00pm. Guests can expect aggressive pricing and product demoing with some of your favourite natural products.

Happy snacking!
