BATTLE OF THE HAIRSPRAYS

FG3

Finding the perfect hairspray is a like finding the perfect pair of jeans; it seems like an impossible mission at first, but once you find a brand that fits your style there’s no looking back.

When it comes to hairspray you want something to keep your do in place, without signs of the dreaded helmet head. I can’t even remember how long I spent searching for the perfect hairspray. I sprayed, I shook, I tried, I tested, and I’m finally ready to share my hairspray findings with you all. I’ve put together a review of my top 5 hairsprays, all under $20!

  1. John Frieda Frizz-Ease Moisture Barrier, Intense Hold (available to purchase at most drug/ grocery stores)

Ideal for up-dos, I find myself reaching for this bottle when I’m in the mood for a sleek bun or a neatly pinned twist. Not only does it help to eliminate frizz but the intense hold keeps every hair in place. I try not to go trigger-happy with this hairspray because it does tend to harden, so a couple sprays does the trick. If you find the Intense Hold too much, try the Flexible Hold.

  1. TRESemmé Expert Selection Youth Boost Hairspray, Voluminous Hold (available to purchase at most drug/ grocery stores)

The one thing I love about this hairspray is that is helps to combat frizz. For days where humidity gets the best of my locks, a quick mist of this youth boost hairspray is enough to tame my mane. I also use on my curls from time to time when I’m heading out for a night on the town, and I’m yet to be disappointed.

  1. Marc Anthony Oil Of Morocco Argan Oil Volume Shine Hairspray (available to purchase at Marc Anthony salons and select drug/ grocery stores)

My ponytail sidekick! This Marc Anthony hairspray is great for ponytails in that it leaves you with a soft, natural hold. It has a subtle smell and on top of that, it’s sulfate free and infused with keratin which is a nice bonus.

  1. Sebastian Shaper Dry, Brushable Hairspray with Control (available to purchase at select drug stores, or Sally Beauty Supply)

This hairspray is amazing because it’s lightweight, flexible, and brushes out beautifully. After curling my hair I often run a wide tooth comb through it to loosen the curls, and the Sebastian hairspray works wonders with this method because it doesn’t leave my hair hard or crunchy.

  1. Lamaur Vita E Brushable Hold Professional Hairspray (available to purchase at Sally Beauty Supply)

This is my everyday go-to hairspray. I first discovered this brand years ago when I was on set for a photoshoot. My hair was styled in big loose curls, and the hair stylist on set used this hairspray to keep my locks in place while still allowing them to bounce gracefully. I’ve been hooked ever since. I generally wear my hair in loose curls and I find that this hairspray is the true definition of brushable hold. Curly, straight, braided or pinned, Lamaur Vita E never lets me down!
